Code of Conduct

As a student of this school, you are expected to...

Attend every session of every class as scheduled in your personal timetable. Always engage in academic research and reinforcement.

Do all exercises, assignments set and all school based assessment and hand them in on time.

Dress in the school’s POLO at all times with plain LONG dark blue jeans or plain black dress pants and white or black soft shoes. Slippers are NOT allowed. White POLO’s are to be used for official functions.

Adhere to the principles of respect and fair play.

Maintain above 50% in all course work, assessments and examinations.

Be involved in co-corricular activities.

Adhere to the Ministry of Education’s policy on the use of Electronic Devices:

MHECD

Parents and Guardians wishing to allow their charges (students) to carry Mobile Handheld Electronic Communication Devices (MHECDs) to school or to a school related activity (on or off the school’s compound), must understand that such devices are the responsibility of their charges.

Powered Off

All MHECDs must be powered off before entering the school’s compound or any school related activity, unless permission is specifically granted by the school’s Principal or the “Person in Charge.”

Duties

The Principal may delegate the duties associated with these guidelines to teachers or other school officers.

Permission

Permission for the use of MHECDs on school’s compounds and at school related activities should be clear and relative to the purpose of use and must be guided by the need for:

  • A safe school or safely conducted school related activities.
  • The promotion of effective and efficient teaching, learning, research, assessment and management.
  • Non- interference with or disturbance of others and any classroom or school related activity and
  • Communication in cases of emergency, ill-health and threats to security.

Please note...

Students will only be admitted to classes with uniforms.

Parking on the compound is for staff.

Students should commit no nuisance, for example:

  • After school co-curricular activities begin at 3.00 and end at 5.00 pm.
  • Ensure that you leave the compound before the official start of Polytechnic evening school, which begins at 5:00 pm.
  • Students found damaging any furniture or fixture of any type will pay the full cost of restoring the item(s).

Students in the possession of the following will face serious disciplinary action, suspension or expulsion:

  • Knives
  • Blades
  • Ice-picks and other weapons
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Cigars/cigarettes
  • Illegal drugs and substances

There is ZERO tolerance for fighting and obscene language is STRICTLY prohibited.

Jewellery affixed to the nose, tongue, cheek, lip or eyebrow is NOT allowed during school hours or on the school’s compound.

One pair of conservative earrings is allowed for female students and NO earrings for male students. Maintain conservative hairstyles with no unnatural tints/shaved patterns.

Any unnecessary accessories and adornments are not allowed in the classroom such as:

  • Hats
  • Shades
  • Sweatbands and
  • Bandannas
  • Tattoos are to be kept covered up while on the school compound

Should you fail to comply, the consequences will be:

  • You will not be entered for final examination.
  • You may be required to withdraw from school.
