At Sixth Form Government, the faculty is a group of pioneering scholars that has a passion for teaching. Their objective is to facilitate teaching and learning to the global standards of excellence in their respective disciplines.
After succeeding at the CSEC level, I was so confused about what to do. Should I work? Should I go straight to UWI? Should I just take a year off? These were some of the many questions that confused my mind for weeks, maybe a month even. In no time, I made friends. who to this day are still my friends. Fast-forward. During my stay at this institute, I met some of the best, best, BEST, teachers to ever grace the planet. I was astonished by the encouraging, motivating and welcoming spirit of these teachers who worked tirelessly to ensure your potential does not go to waste. Besides the academics though, this school offers a wide variety of extra and co-curricular activities; from Dragon boating, IVCF, Drama, among many, many other clubs. Additionally, the housing competitions were the best. These competitions ranged from Cricket to Parang, Pageant “Mr and Ms. POLY”, and even Evening Sweat (football). In my final year, I was a part of the Student Council team who worked cohesively with the teaching staff to accommodate students’ opinions and wishes for the betterment of the physical and teaching environment. I Also became the captain of the purple house. This not only made me enthusiastic but I learnt responsibility, time management and the importance of participation. These qualities that I now feverishly possess, have been very instrumental in my now, University life. All in all, attending Polytechnic was the best decision of my life.
During my time at Sixth Form Government I met a very skilled and knowledgeable staff (teaching and non teaching). The teachers were very patient and their support was beyond the call. Also I developed friendships with other students that I met at Sixth Form Government and of whom I am still friends with. This school is very dynamic and helps develops students holistically, also it really helps students with the transition to Tertiary Education. All dreams are possible and Poly creates a support system to push you in the direction of accomplishing it. Right attitude, positive people and commitment are just some means of making those dreams true.
